CELEBRATIONS

Sometimes, family members are unsure of whether or not, or how, to celebrate with loved ones who have Dementia or Alzheimer’s. Here at Heartfelt Home, we believe it is important to celebrate special occasions as they help bring a ray of light into our residents’ lives. These celebrations are often kept small and simple yet special to ensure the continued comfort of residents.

Through these celebrations, our goal is to brighten up each residents’ day and to make them feel extra loved and cared for. To this end, Heartfelt Home staff go out of their way to recreate the special traditions and celebrations which patients enjoyed throughout their lives. For example, birthdays may be marked with freshly baked cake and a happy birthday song. We can also make arrangements to hand over flowers, balloons, gifts, or cards from loved ones back home.

Heartfelt Home also plans activities around major calendar holidays such as Christmas. We have hosted various fun-filled gatherings over the years, including festive season buffets and traditional South African braais. These have provided the perfect setting for residents and their families to spend quality time together.

These kinds of celebrations, no matter how small, help keep the joy alive within our home. We believe that everyone deserves to celebrate and experience life’s little moments of joy, especially those with Alzheimer’s or Dementia.
