Heartfelt Home is with you every step of the way

Heartfelt Home Assisted Living Facilities

Heartfelt Home has been specifically designed and created as a private home for those with dementia. Having only 24 residents of varying ages and stages, it provides for the following tailor-made care:

Tranquil and Comfortable Environment

Heartfelt Home is located in the Sundays River Valley and is surrounded by scenic orange orchards. The large lawn and garden provide for safe walking and exercise. Outside the bedroom windows, one can see beautiful rose bushes and each bedroom is comfortable and cosy with under-floor heating.

Farm Fresh Meals

All the meals served at Heartfelt are home cooked in our large farm kitchen, where we follow a substantial 28-day menu plan.

Each morning fresh flowers are picked and arranged on the breakfast table. The home grown fruit and vegetables are used in the preparing of tasty and nourishing homemade meals.

They enjoy fresh fruit everyday with freshly squeezed orange juice throughout the season.

Qualified Nursing Staff and Trained Carers

Heartfelt Home was built with the blessing of the Alzheimer's Association in Port Elizabeth. We are registered as a frail care facility with the Department of Social Welfare.

Helen efficiently oversees a permanent team of staff members, consisting of qualified and registered nursing sisters and trained carers. The staff have been carefully selected, and form a caring and compassionate team.

Family Visits

We welcome visitors and love to have their children playing on the lawn. With a pot of tea or coffee, we facilitate a special time of connection for them under the trees or wherever they are best able to engage with their loved ones.

We have occasional family braais.  Christmas is celebrated on the 16th December each year, with all the families gathered for a celebratory meal.

There is plenty of B&B accommodation in the vicinity.

Health Care and Security

When any one of our residents is unwell Helen takes them to the local doctor, who is 10 minutes away. All prescribed medications are ordered and collected from the local pharmacy and administered accordingly. We also have a psychiatrist who graciously comes to assess the residents on site once every six months, which is of great assistance to the families.

A well-constructed fence with electronic gates secures the perimeters, while the CCTV cameras throughout the building assist us to ensure the safety and well-being of each resident.

What our clients had to say...

"Heartfelt has the feeling of a 'home away from home', which I think is very important for the health and well-being of the patients. The surroundings are beautiful and tranquil, and Helen and her staff are very attentive and caring." – Daryl Peddar

“… In the beginning we often sat out in the garden with her to have tea on our weekly visit but as she has become frailer we often sit in a corner of the stoep where we can be together as a family.  If the weather is really bad then we find a place inside where we can all be together … not something that can be easily achieved in most frail care facilities and such a blessing for her and for us.” – Carol Cowie
