Heartfelt

ACTIVITIES

Back to Listing

Heartfelt Home offers a wide variety of activities to keep our residents engaged and entertained. We recognise the individuality of each resident and therefore strive to offer a selection of activities that are suitable for those who are active and social, as well as those who are more limited and reserved.

Because routine is of significant importance to persons with Dementia or Alzheimer’s, many of these activities occur daily at set times. Click here to read through a typical day at Heartfelt Home.

The activities on offer include, but are not limited to:

  • Relaxing in our spacious lounge or large sunny veranda,
  • Going for supervised walks down the farm road,
  • Receiving nail care and foot massages,
  • Participating in worship and prayer,
  • Reading magazines,
  • Listening to a good variety of music, and
  • Watching specific television programmes

We also have a designated afternoon programme of activities. During this time, our three facilitators take turns in initiating fun and interactive activities geared to each individual’s needs. Typical activities include playing card games, painting, colouring-in, bead threading, reading, storytelling, and discussing the news. Some form of physical activity is always included to keep residents alert and responsive.

Heartfelt Home also plans special activities around birthdays and major holidays and hosts occasional family braais. We welcome visitors and can help to facilitate a special time of connection between themselves and their loved ones.
